JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the job is to take responsibility for the tutoring and assessing of learners to gain
timely completions for Construction vocational training programmes specified by the Director of
Vocational Learning. There will be assessment within a workplace environment, portfolio work
and short vocational courses in the Training Centre in line with the organisation’s strategic plan
and KPIs. There will also be a requirement to produce reports for management information and
learner tracking.

To be able to teach and assess BTEC Construction Level 1 & Level 2 courses
To deliver short accredited courses in a classroom
To ensure learners receive a review every 10 weeks as a minimum and advise Line Manager
of areas for concern in line with organisational procedures and compliance with funding
organisation
Keep Line Manager advised of ASN/ALN Learners in respect of progression, monitoring and
further needs – learner tracking
To be responsible for the progress and achievement of learners allocated in line with targets
set and KPIs
Interview new learners and undertake Initial assessment and induction as required
To monitor learner progress towards specified qualifications to include Apprenticeships and
other qualifications as specified.
To embed functional skills within qualification
To develop and deliver high quality tutoring sessions, to a minimum of ‘good’, in line with
Ofsted grading guidance, and all related documentation eg lesson plans, SOW, resources etc
To build good relationships with Learners and consider their wellbeing at all times, offering
mentoring as required
To maintain discipline and good behavioural standards of assigned learners
To assess to Awarding Organisation’s standard, assigned learners ensuring the variety and
accuracy of methods used
To ensure good relationships are developed with employers and learners and other external
agencies
To attend external meetings as directed by Line Manager

Invigilating exams
Undertake monitoring visits in respect of Health & Safety
To identify any health & safety or equal & diversity issues which may affect learners
To identify Safeguarding issues and report to Line Manager in line with Organisational
policies and procedures
To complete all necessary documentation and administration to include assessment and
review documentation, ILPs, filing etc
To assist when requested with the matching of learners to the most suitable employer
opportunities
To contribute to employer and learner recruitment as required
To communicate and co-operate with other members of staff to achieve maximum efficiency
and use of resources
To participate fully in CPD
To attend exhibitions and conventions as required which could include evenings and
weekends
To fully co-operate with the organisation in implementing its policy for providing a safe and
healthy place of work.
To fully co-operate with the organisation in implementing its policy for Equality & Diversity
To fully comply with the Organisation’s policy and procedures for safeguarding
To undertake any other similar duties as required from time to time
To present a professional image and maintain confidentiality at all times
